The Thales Slap Fingerprint Scanner by Cogent 3M CS500F is a high-performance biometric device that quickly captures forensic-quality fingerprint images easily. Formerly known as 3M Cogent, Thales has been developping &enhancing these fingerprint scanners to offer better performance in advanced optical systems, reject ambient-light while capturing high-quality fingerprints from stained, marked, or dark fingers. It gives a fast,accurate fingerprint, able to capture images at 10 frames per second. This is a versatile fingerprint scanner, in different models capable of capturing single flat, single rollor dual flat fingerprints. 

The CS500F uses a USB connection for data transfer and power, so there's no need excess cables. It is easily integrated into new or existing applications. The software development kits of the device are based on proven biometric technologies from Thales: applications for fingerprint capture, quality check, WSQ compression, verification, and 1 identification. The SDKs allow integration of the CS500F into any third-party application with ease, making it perfect for every system integrator/solution provider. 

The speed of acquisition is boosted up to outstanding performance through USB 3.0 technology in the Thales CS500F.

This compact, FBI App-F certified 10-print device is used in all applications requiring four-slaps and rolled fingerprint acquisition.

 Its main areas of application are issuance of eID documents and criminal identification, where speed, accuracy, and reliability are imperative.

The ergonomic design of CS500F combines with the easy-to-integrate SDK architecture to make it an ideal solution for system integrators/solution providers. It 12 tri-color LED-based user interfaces that facilitates the acquisition procedure with indications of which fingerprint(s) to acquire and quality feedback. This intuitive interface removes the need for skilled operators, increasing workflow efficiency and reducing training time. 

The Thales-CS500F can be fitted with a fake finger detection solution based on software that enables it to detect counterfeit fingerprints. This feature improves the security of the device to ensure that only real fingerprints are captured and processed. Additionally, patented Liveness-Detection LFD technology fortifies security by ensuring that the fingerprints are from live fingers, thus counteracti attempts at spoofing with fake fingers made from materials such as silicone, rubber, or latex. 

The CS500F is certified for both FBI IAFIS IQS Appendix F (FAP60) and for Mobile ID Appendix F, thus proving the real strictness of this standard for image quality and interoperability.

Certification ensures that the images produced by the scanner are of high quality, appropriate to all biometric working modes, including large-scale machine one-to-many matching operations.
